Climate Change Agreements (CCA) are voluntary agreements that provide a substantial discount on the Climate Change Levy (CCL) for eligible energy intensive and IPPC regulated industries.
From April 2019 the CCA discounts on the CCL tax will increase to 93% for electricity and 78% for gas, as per the 2016 Budget. CCL exemptions for renewable energy supplies is also being phased out.
Climate Change Agreements already offer significant cost reductions for eligible industries, and will grow in value as the CCL discounts increase.

How does it work?
Commenced in 2013, the CCA scheme currently allows participants to claim discount levels on the CCL tax of up to 90% for electricity and 65% for gas, to encourage energy efficiency. The CCL is a tax on energy delivered to non-domestic users in the UK.
In exchange for this large financial benefit, businesses in eligible sectors enter into a Climate Change Agreement where they commit to meeting energy reduction targets and several qualitative energy and carbon management criteria.
The agreements and mandatory reporting are complex processes with specific rules that cover each eligible sector, and are therefore fully managed by Envantage to protect compliance in the event of a DECC audit.
